Self catering accommodation at the Grain Store, Kirkhouse, Traquair, Peebleshire, Scotland
The Grain Store is a two bedroom cottage, part of a modern conversion of a Granary within a 19th Century farm steading. The steading is in Kirkhouse, a small hamlet of ten houses and the ancient Kirk of Traquair, which lies directly on the Southern Upland Way in the Scottish Borders. Kirkhouse is located two miles south of Traquair on the B709 between Innerleithen and Yarrow.
This compact self catering accommodation, with immediate access to the surrounding countryside, consists of:
- a well equipped ground floor kitchen/living room with multi-fuel stove,
- a first floor “Green Bedroom” with a double bed,
- a first floor “Yellow Bedroom” with two single beds,
- a first floor modern bathroom with walk-in shower unit and instant electric shower,
- ample off-road parking to the rear of the property (below the barn), and
- a picnic table overlooking the countryside (below the barn).
Access to the front door is through a small lobby with hooks for coats and space for boots. The lobby is shared with the adjacent house.
Prospective guests with small children should be aware that:
- the cottage is 50 metres from the B709 and there are no gates between the cottage and this road, and
- a track close to the cottage leads directly through fields to Newhall Burn (a distance of 150 metres) which is crossed by an open sided bridge where small children would need supervision.
- The house has not been “child proofed”in relation to electric sockets and stairs, etc.
